AquaFina Flavorsplash Sparkling Berry Loco

I’m always on the hunt for a new flavorful zero calorie beverage. I enjoy water, but sometimes it can get plain old boring … so I picked up the new AquaFina Flavorsplash Sparkling Berry Loco which is a four berry blended sparkling water. I’m not the biggest fan of sparkling waters, but there are a handful that I truly enjoy … and since this was a different flavor I had high hopes.
Unfortunately those high hopes were smashed to smithereens after the second sip. The first sip I thought it tasted okay … the second sip brought on a wave of complete and utter disgust.  It’s mildly bubbly carbonated water with disgusting artificial flavoring. It was so bad I screwed the cap back on the bottle and threw it right into the garbage.  I’m glad I only purchased 1 bottle to try because I won’t be wasting money buying any more flavors.
Of course a bottle of 0 calorie or 0 points plus.

Zico Chocolate Premium Coconut Water

I have seen this Zico Chocolate Premium Coconut Water all over the place lately and it truly only caught my attention because I saw someone mention it in a YouTube video.  I have tried coconut water in the past and have completely disliked them. I know coconut water is great with hydrating and being typically healthy for you but I can’t usually get past the taste.  I’ve had coconut water straight out of a coconut in Jamaica and it was good although at the time I was drinking it hot (well, it had just come off the tree) but I wasn’t wild about it.
I figured chocolate can typically always make something better. I mean chocolate is the only reason I can drink a glass of milk. So with this reasoning in my head, I gave it a shot – bought a bottle and stuck it in the fridge.  Finally, one day, I decided to give it a shot.  I shook up the bottle, cracked it open and took a sip … and another.  And I have to say … I absolutely LOVE this stuff!  It tastes like chocolate milk with a very, very mild underlying coconut flavor.
The greatest part is its hydrating, has 5 essential electrolytes in it and has enough potassium as a banana.  It’s also dairy and gluten free.  I admit I don’t really like drinking my calories/points, but this was a nice and different treat from the norm.  A 14 ounce bottle has 120 calories in it – which is equivalent to 3 points plus values.  Not bad at all.

Strawberry Orange Banana Crystal Light with Green Tea

I’ve been considering making a detox drink for myself – you know the cucumber, mint and lemon concoction to help flush your system from the inside.  I find there are times where I am really great at getting all my water in for the day, and then there are other days where I’m questioning if I even drank any water for the day (outside of ice coffee, etc.).  Forgetting to buy extra lemons, I decided to make a different sort of drink for myself.
Green tea is a great little natural remedy which has many different health benefits.  I don’t necessarily love the taste of green tea on its own, but I do like green tea when it’s got other flavors in it (Lipton has a great line).  While at the store, I opted to pick up a box of Green Tea and then a canister of Crystal Light.
I whipped up a big double batch to have in the refrigerator and I in turn brought it over to my aunt’s house during a family BBQ.  When I do make canisters of Crystal Light or even one of those to go packets I always add extra water. If I don’t I feel the drink is far too sweet for my liking.  Each large packet of Crystal Light calls for 8 cups of water, I typically go for 10-12 depending on the flavor of the drink I am making (some are sweeter than others).
I emptied a packet of Crystal Light into 2 cups of water in a glass then poured it into my container and then poured 6 cups of water into the container.  I repeated this twice then took 9 tea bags and put 3 bags into 3 separate coffee mugs. I heated some water and poured it over the teabags (about 2 cups of water each mug) and let them steep. I let them steep for about 10 minutes before removing the tea bags and pouring the liquid into the container. Giving it a nice shake I then tucked it away in the refrigerator to get nice and cold.
I have to say, it was really refreshing, with a mild green tea flavor in the background.  You could of course increase the amount of tea or decrease per your taste.

Flavor Infuser

I popped into CVS the other day to pick up some medicine and on my way back to the checkout I noticed the summer items were on clearance. Clearance? Why of course I have to check it out … and I’m glad I did.  Most of the items were 75% off, while others (like the fancy popable lunch dishes) were not on sale.
I spotted these bright lidded “to go” drink cups and picked one up.  This is a Flavor Infuser cup which is a double walled cup that has a removable silicone lid to allow for dropping in fresh fruit to make naturally sweetened and flavored water. The design of the fruit resin allows for fruit, herbs and even vegetables to be added to your water for a fresh boost of flavor.  According to the package, the design of the infuser reduces pulp and seeds from becoming “one” with your beverage.
I thought it was pretty neat and felt possibilities would be endless with this little gem. I could even throw a few ice cubes in with the fruit OR even freeze the fruit and add it in to make my water flavorful, yet frosty.
The greatest part was the cups are originally $7.99, but with the 75% off, I paid $1.99.  So if you’re in the market for a new to-go cup for your water – check out your local CVS’ summer clearance section.

Karma Wellness Water – Pineapple Coconut

While browsing the water selection at the local market I spotted a new product that I just had to try.  I love water, but plain water can get boring sometimes, especially when it’s hot out and I want a little flavoring in it (particularly when around others who are drinking frozen drinks, kool-aid, and sugary lemonades).
I admit the packaging kind of sucked me in at first.  It was a neat square bottle with a see-thru label.  The cap had a colored powder in it so I picked it up and gave it a whirl.  Karma Wellness Water is a natural, low calorie flavored water which is formulated with vitamins and antioxidants.  It’s literally jam packed with vitamins: A, D, E, B6, B12, Potassium, etc.
I think the coolest thing about this water is the fact that the flavoring is housed in the cap.  You have to peel the sticky covering off the top and push down (a bit hard, you’ll feel a pop) and the powder flavoring is released into the water.  A little shake and your beverage is transformed into the flavor and color of your drink choice.
Out of the 4 flavors available at my store the pineapple coconut seemed to be the most intriguing, so it’s the one I purchased.  Flavor wise it’s definitely pineapple with a hint of coconut.  It doesn’t have an artificial taste to it, it’s very smooth tasting. I quite enjoyed it. It’s also makes me feel a little fancy.
A whole bottle is 1 points plus value.

Crystal Light Liquid – Mango Passionfruit Drink Mix

Considering I drink so much water, I have become a huge lover of Crystal Light.  Water is fabulous for you but it can be rather plain – plus by throwing a packet of Crystal Light in my water I feel as though I am having a treat.  Pre-Weight Watchers I enjoyed my juice and punches once in a while, so this is a nice “ode to juice” if you will.
When I saw that Crystal Light had come out with a liquid version of their sweetener I originally passed up on it.  I haven’t been the biggest fan of some of the liquid water flavorings that have come out.  But since I have such great faith in Crystal Light I decided to pick up the Mango Passionfruit flavor.
I do find you need to add more than the recommended squirts to obtain a decent flavoring – especially if you’re drinking 30 ounces of water at a time like I am.  I can’t handle that moderately flavored water – it makes me want to gag.  But I find by throwing a few extra squirts in, it really boosts the flavor and makes it delicious.  The mango passionfruit flavor is totally delicious.  Once I finish the bottle I do plan on picking up another to have for when I want it.
