Don’t play with your food … well, unless it smiles at you!

First of all, how cute is this?! It was almost so cute that I didn’t want to eat it. But … I admit that I did.
I really wanted peanut butter, but since I didn’t want a peanut butter sandwich, I decided to make a peanut butter banana and peanut butter apple sandwich.  Admittedly this is not something I normally make but it’s nice to step outside the box.  Plus it was so delicious, I’ve decided this is going to be a dish I make more often.
I started by slicing up a fuji apple into thick slices and removed the core.  I then peeled my banana and sliced it down the middle.  I measured out 2 tablespoons of PB Crave CoCo Bananas peanut butter and smeared it onto the banana and stuck the top on, then smeared it over the apples and made a sandwich out of them.  It resembled an adorable happy food face.
The greatest part was it was filling, I got 2 fruits in for the day, and I got a serving of healthy fat all for 5 points plus values. Yummo!

PB Crave – CoCo Bananas


After purchasing a boatload of PB Crave off their website I decided to finally give the peanut butter a shot.  In my particular area, the line is sold at select Wal-Mart locations but it is also available on the company’s website.  The one peanut butter I was the most intrigued about was the PB Crave CoCo Bananas.
PB Crave peanut butter is a natural peanut butter and the oils separate from the peanut butter and has to be reincorporated into the mixture.  After a number of stirs with a buttering knife, everything is incorporated together and ready to eat.  CoCo Bananas is a blend of wild honey, chocolate and a natural banana flavor.  The peanut butter itself is not sweet like regular peanut butters on the market; it’s got more of a natural peanut butter flavor that’s slightly sweet.  I’d say the chocolate flavor is not really noticeable but the banana flavoring is definitely nice and smooth. It’s definitely a nice, delicious treat.
A 2 tablespoon serving is 180 calories or 5 points plus values.

Jif Whips Whipped Peanut Butter & Chocolate

I have heard and read about people raving about the new Jif Whips whipped peanut butter spreads, so I picked up the Whipped Peanut Butter & Chocolate. I admit, I’m not the biggest lover of peanut butter (I enjoy it in desserts, in candy, etc) but I’m not a stick a spoon in peanut butter and enjoy it type-a gal.  But my boyfriend and I do enjoy an occasional peanut butter (or cookie butter) and banana sandwich – so I figured chocolate peanut butter, how can you go wrong?
The texture is very light and airy, which is to be expected considered it’s whipped.  It’s not nearly as thick as regular peanut butter in a jar tends to be.  It’s smooth enough that it smoothes over bread like a breeze. Taste wise it’s definitely chocolate with an underlying peanut butter flavor to it. There isn’t quite another way to describe it other than saying it’s … delicious.  It is yummy on its own on bread/toast or with fruit (banana, strawberries and apples).
A serving is 2 tablespoons, which is 4 points plus values.  I do find that a 2 tablespoon serving is a little much for myself, so 1 tbsp is more than enough for me, which calculates out to be 2 points plus.

Weight Watchers Peanut Butter Brownie Bliss

Weight Watchers has done it again! Done what, you ask? Well, they created a miniature dessert which satisfies the sweet tooth AND brownie fix (with a punch might I add) and it’s for a very small points plus value.  Incase you’re not aware; Weight Watchers has a line of packaged, portioned desserts which are sold in most grocery stores bakery sections.
At my local grocery store, the Weight Watchers Peanut Butter Brownie Bliss were on display near the front of the store along with the Weight Watchers Triple Chocolate Brownie Bites. What caught my attention initially was the “New Item” sticker my grocery store stuck on the box. The peanut butter certainly caught my eye because 1) I love brownies and 2) peanut butter just makes things better. After bringing these home, my boyfriend and I ended up having one as a snack.
The brownies are very small – practically 2-3 bites and it’d be gone – or in one of you wanted to just shove the whole thing in your mouth.  They are nothing other than delicious.  The brownie portion reminds me of the fudgy chewy brownies you’d get in a Little Debbie snack, which is then topped with a whipped peanut butter. The entire thing is then encased in a milk chocolate. It’s a perfect combination of brownie, chocolate and peanut butter.
A serving is one brownie and they are only 2 points plus values.

Almond Breeze Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk & Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana-Berry Smoothie

After going on a hunt, and I mean month long hunt, for the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk I FINALLY stumbled across it at Whole Foods.  The funny part of this hunt is, once I finally found it and purchased it, I noticed it starting to pop up on my local grocery stores shelves.  So now, I no longer have to scour the earth for it – I can go to the closest grocery store!
Oddly enough I’m not a fan of milk (bad experience as a child in school), at all, but I LOVE chocolate milk.  As a kid chocolate milk was the only type of milk anyone could get me to drink.  As an adult, I still have a weakness in my heart for chocolate milk.
The greatest part about this almond milk is that 1 cup is only 1 points plus value.  Sure, it’s unsweetened, but if you’d prefer the type with the sugar in it there is a version sold in the refrigerator section as well as in the cardboard containers that can be stored on shelves.  I decided to make smoothies with it because who doesn’t love a chocolate smoothie?
Serves 1.  2 Points Plus values.

  • 1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons PB2 (or you can use the chocolate pb2 if that’s what you have, same points plus)
  • 1 packet of equal (or any sugar substitute – optional)
  • 1 banana
  • 4 strawberries
  • 5 ice cubes
Add all your contents to a blender and blend until smooth.  Serve up in your favorite beverage glass or travel mug.  The mixture when blended makes about 25-30 oz smoothie which is quite a lot!

Trader Joe’s Milk Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels


I purchased a bag of these Milk Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels from Trader Joe’s and have had these stashed away in the cabinet. I pulled out the bag this weekend and all I can say is: Oh. My. Word. AMAZING!  But dangerous.
These are little rectangular pretzels that are filled with peanut butter (which are fabulous on their own without chocolate on them) but they are then coated in a thick, smooth, velvety chocolate.  If you’re a sweet and salty lover, this is going to be heaven on your taste buds.   They are so good you may have a hard time stopping at a serving size, so it’s best to take your serving and hide the bag.  It’s not really a good idea to just eat these straight out of the bag because it’s easy to overeat these. Really easy.
A serving size is 6 pieces.  6 pieces will cost you 6 points plus values.  Not really bad for a sweet, salty, chocolate, peanut butter treat – especially if that’s something that you enjoy.  I found them to be heavenly, but had to give the bag to my boyfriend for him to have some and then hide (from me – haha).  He himself fell in love with them and mentioned we need to get more next time we hit up Trader Joe’s.  I think I may forget these off my list, for at least the next TJ’s trip, but I will repurchase at some point.

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Filled Cupcakes



Whoever invented these delicious, scrumptious cupcakes deserves a raise.  Or a hug. Okay, so both.

Now that I’ve got that statement out of the way – let me begin to say how absolutely delicious these Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Filed Cupcakes are. I purchased these at Trader Joe’s after seeing them time and time again in the little tiny square bakery “corner”. I’m a peanut butter lover – but that is a peanut butter lover in desserts (candies, cakes, etc.) I’ve never been a peanut butter on a spoon type-a-gal. Anyway! These cupcakes are SUPER moist, deliciously chocolatey and are filled with an ooey gooey peanut butter filling. The cupcake is topped with a soft, fluffy dark chocolate frosting which as dark chocolate is, isn’t overly sweet so it makes the cupcake just perfect.  Each bite is perfection and it’ll seriously satisfy any sweet tooth, sugary/peanut buttery craving you or someone in your household may be having.

My boyfriend was hooked – he too is a peanut butter enthusiast in desserts (although he’ll eat PB&J’s or incorporate PB into ice cream). These are certainly a two thumbs up dessert/snack. So if you’re in a chocolate peanut butter mood – I suggest you pick these up next time you venture into Trader Joe’s – you won’t be sorry!

They’re only 8 points plus a piece, which really isn’t bad considering the magnitude of how delicious these are!

I admit we love these so much … these have been a repeat purchase from time to time.

Chocolate Peanut Butter, Banana, Cherry, Strawberry & Almond Milk Smoothie


This is one of my delicious smoothies I created on a whim and am just not getting around to post about it.  One great thing with me is when I’m in the mood for a smoothie; whatever I have in the kitchen (fridge, freezer and countertops) is fair game as long as it’s not saturated in sugar sauces.  Sometimes I swap out the liquid for almond milk, skim milk or just plain water.  It really depends on how pointy I want to keep the smoothie at.  Other times I add in a yogurt along with my fruit (this usually entails adding cinnamon) and water.
This is one of the most delicious smoothies I had made and the greatest part is it was only 2 points plus values!  It had a perfect chocolate peanut buttery taste along with that rich, fresh taste you get from fruit.  It was delicious and incredibly filling.
Here’s what I used to make it:
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
6 ice cubes
2 tbsp chocolate PB2
1 Banana,
4 Strawberries
3 frozen cherries
1 Equal packet

While on Instagram I kept seeing all these photographs of this stuff called PB2.  PB2? Pfft, okay. I’m a foodie by heart, but a critic. Initially my brain said – how in the world can you take something like peanut butter that tastes fabulous and make it a powder and make that equally fabulous? Declined!  I mean I’ve tried powdered eggs before and those were a double thumbs down.
Well, I kept seeing this PB2 stuff all over Instagram … and curiosity got the best of me (partly because I am obsessed with Amazon shopping) so I found a 2-pack of both the regular peanut butter and chocolate so I purchased it.  It was shipped to my house and upon receipt … I admit I was a little skeptical but excited.  I waited a few days to try it and then added it into a smoothie (figuring that would be the safest bet).
To my surprise the stuff was AMAZING!  It gave my chocolate banana smoothie this yummy peanut butter taste and I was immediately hooked. Powdered peanut butter that has the taste of peanut butter but without all the fat? Oh my!!
So I started experimenting – adding it to different things to make dips, to make pies, to make more smoothies and each and every time it’s been amazing.  It gives me that peanut butter flavor I love so much.  Since I follow Weight Watchers, peanut butter can get pretty high in points so I typically avoid it as much as I can – but 2 tablespoons of PB2 is only 1 points plus. Heaven I tell ya, HEAVEN!

Skinny Cow Peanut Butter Crème Filled Chocolates


I spotted these Skinny Cow Peanut Butter Crème filled chocolates while at Dollar Tree.  I had purchased the caramel filled chocolates but had yet to try them.  But considering I am a sucker for anything peanut butter candy related I had to purchase them – and I am glad I did!  I’m a sucker for peanut butter cups, but sometimes the points plus associated with them isn’t too appealing.
The package comes with 3 thinner peanut butter filled chocolate crème candies.  The candy is a nice, smooth milk chocolate with a thin filling of peanut butter in the middle of them.  It’s nice, smooth and creamy.  The greatest part is each pack is only 130 calories – 4 points plus.  BUT if you wanted to eat 1 it’s 1 points plus, 2 is 2 points plus and the 3 is four points plus.  Quite a yummy treat.t!  This would be great to bring to the movie theater for your chocolate fix!
